Many,Much




* "Many" denotes number while "Much" denotes quantity.

* Both are used in the sense of "very"

*"Many" is used before common nouns in plural number while "Much" is used before material and abstract nouns in singular number.




Example-

He has many books.

I have much gold.




All, Whole




* "All" is used with proper and common nouns while "Whole" is used before common nouns.

* Both are used in the sense of "Total".




Example-

All China are polluted.

People of whole town were happy.




Any, Some




*Any is used in both singular and plural number while "Some" is used in plural number only.




Example-

Take any book/books you like.

Watch any movie/movies you prefer.

Some Mr. Rakesh has written you a letter.




Little, A little, The, little, not a little




* These all words denote quantity their meaning are different.

*These all are used before material and abstract nouns.




* The meaning of "little" is equal to "not much" in quantity.

Example-

I have little money.

*The meaning of " a little" is "some' in quantity.

Example-

He has a little sense.

*"The little" denotes "not more but nothing".

Example-

He drank the little milk (what he had).

*"Not a little" denotes "Much".

Example-

Few, A few, The few, Not a few




* These words are adjectives of number which are used before countable nouns.

* Few denotes "not many".

example-

I have few pens.

* A few denotes "some atleast".

He has a few books.

* The few denotes "not many but all that are available".

Example-

Mohan gave me the few books of math, he had.

*Not a few denotes "many" in number.

Example-

I have not a few dresses.
